Duties:

The Equipoise Fund Intern will be part of the WYWF team and will help perform the day-to-day operations of its work as a small funding organization. The intern can expect to contribute to WYWF’s mission and gain experience in working with a foundation that works to create systems change for women and girls in Wyoming. Systems change happens slowly, and involves raising public awareness about issues important to women’s economic self-sufficiency.

The internship will require developing an understanding of WYWF’s and the Wyoming Community Foundation’s mission and the associated messaging. This understanding may be practiced through social media updates, web site editing and electronic newsletter drafting. The intern’s role in this work will include researching topics related to women’s economic self-sufficiency and leadership and writing objective, thoughtful, and factually-accurate articles for our monthly electronic newsletter, and preparing the letter for distribution to 2000 subscribers.

The internship will also include the opportunity to help organize, plan and carry out events such as a retirement planning workshop for women, and the Wyoming Women’s Antelope Hunt, which provides women with mentoring opportunities through hunting. The intern will also practice the communications skills that ensure successful fundraising for a nonprofit organization’s operations and events, including working with a donor database, writing and responding to professional letters and emails, making phone calls, and maintaining data in Excel spreadsheets.

Additional opportunities for the intern to learn about WYWF’s work helping women achieve economic self-sufficiency may include attending WYWF advisory board meetings, meeting with donors and grantee partners face-to-face, taking photographs at events, performing policy research and reviewing grant applications and reports.
