Supervisory Engine Operator (Engine Boss) & Assistant Fire Engine Operator.
The appointment for the supervisory engine operators are 26 pay periods, full time. The assistants are 18 pay periods, subject to furlough.

These positions operate in a very dynamic environment throughout the year in fuels, wild fire, wild fire for resource benefits, prescribed fire and other wilderness oriented duties on the Forest. The wilderness, front-country, and the zone covering three districts offers up a diverse amount of Forest Service projects. Fire assignments may be a split between type 6 engine assignments, overhead on a hand-crew, or single resource boss opportunities.
Skill needs vary from wildland fire to GIS, Aviation, Advanced Faller, horseback skills, crosscut skills, emt, and prescribed fire, and fire monitoring.
