Interns will work with Preserve Conservation Science staff, world-class scientists, and land managers on:
- forest, meadow, stream, and lake habitat use
- long-term changes in natural history of the region
- recreational impact assessment
- detailed data collection & management
- Be a part of an exciting research community working closely with researchers, educators and land management professionals.
Interns will develop an individualized research project, complete a written report, and present their findings in an oral presentation at the end of the summer.
Eligibility: Freshmen or sophomore college students from 2- or 4-year institutions with biology, ecology, geology, environmental studies/science, or related natural science majors. Ability to hike a minimum of 7 miles and provide personal gear for the day (rain gear, appropriate clothing, hiking boots). Driver’s license preferred. Those with little or no previous field or research experience are encouraged to apply. Interns who excel may be invited to return a second year
Start and end dates: June to mid-August (10 weeks)
Other support: Housing is available on an as needed and space available basis; Preserve membership for duration of the internship
