Paid Summer Research Internship

  •    Conduct research with a faculty mentor
  •    Receive additional mentoring from a UW graduate student
  •    Spring workshops to prepare participants for their research internship

Graduate School Preparation:

  • GRE preparation classes held on the UW campus
  • Seminars on the graduate school application process
  • Seminars and panel discussions on the culture of graduate school
  • Attend and present at a national research conference

Individualized Support Services:

  • Academic support and tutoring
  • Financial aid advice
  • One-on-one help with graduate school application process

Desired qualifications:

Eligibility – Demographics

  • Open to University of Wyoming sophomores, juniors and seniors who are both limited income (usually receive the Pell Grant) and first generation college students (neither parent has a four year college degree)
  • Must not graduate in May or August 2016
  • Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Not geared towards professional programs (MD, JD, DVM, PA)

Eligibility – Academics

  • Students must have a least 60 credit hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Students must have a desire to earn the Ph.D.


$3,400 Summer Undergraduate Research Internship
$1,000 Travel Funding to Present Research Free Graduate School Preparation
$500 Travel Funding to Interview with a Graduate School
