Lead Songbird Bander & Raptor Field Technician, Teton Raptor Center

  • Responsible for overseeing passerine banding operations at two MAPS stations
  • Helping with field data collection for an ongoing Great Gray Owl project
  • Oversee and conduct passerine mist netting and banding according to MAPS protocols two days each week
  • Three days each week will be dedicated to radio-tracking, checking nest sites, searching for new nests, and prey surveys for Great Gray Owls
  • Extensive solo backcountry hiking in grizzly bear country will be required

Desired qualifications:

  • At least two seasons of passerine banding experience required
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience leading banding operations, overseeing crew and volunteers
  • Applicants must be able to work independently, supervise a team, oversee and provide quality control for data entry, navigate via GPS, hike extensively off-trail, and work comfortably in remote settings

Start and end dates: Late May – August, 2016

Salary/pay: Compensation equivalent to $1500/mo, housing included. Housing available with private living spaces and shared kitchen. No smoking, no pets.
