Duties: Wilderness-Trails Crew members conduct annual trail maintenance and construction using primitive hand tools (cross-cut saws, hand saws, axes, pulaskis, picks, shovels, etc.), campsite cleanup, visitor contacts, Forest Protection Officer duties, sign maintenance, and monitoring projects. Some Wilderness-Trails Crew members are primarily foot-based and some are stock-based. All Wilderness-Trails Crew members should be comfortable working with/around stock.Stock Crew members help to manage the South Zone herd, pack tools and supplies to trail project sites, and perform all the other duties required of a Wilderness-Trails crew member. All employees may help with fall hunting patrols and with law enforcement activities. Employees may have the opportunity to assist in fire suppression activities on the Forest. Both of these positions require a crew member to work long days, including weekends and holidays, in a back country camp and travel setting for 8 consecutive days.
Start/end dates: June 1st – September 30th
Salary/pay: $12.53 – $15.74
