Duties: Seasonal Conservation Educators will assist in outreach and education efforts by leading regional conservation day-camps throughout the state of Wyoming, as well as assisting in various other conservation education programming providing the public with information around wildlife, fisheries, habitat management, ecology, hunting, fishing and other outdoor skills.
Desired qualifications: Must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision, as well as able to work well with others on a team. Requires flexible schedule, including travel and long days, potentially working evenings and weekends. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with all ages and backgrounds. Must have the ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions, and comfortable pulling trailers and operating 4WD vehicles. Must be able to responsibly maintain direct supervision of children while involved with activities such as fishing, archery, outdoor science investigations, and team builders. Knowledge of Wyoming ecology and wildlife, in addition to experience with archery, fishing, orienteering, first aid, and other outdoor recreation skills. Must have excellent communication skills, strong organizational and leadership skills, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a passion for working with students. Must demonstrate teaching skills and the ability to implement creative “hands on” teaching methods. Position requires extended stays (4 days) in camper trailers and statewide travel. Position requires CPR certification & background check (both provided by WGFD). Must be at least 21 years old.
