Duties: Public outreach and education pertaining to stopping the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS), specifically quagga/zebra mussels, after completing training as a watercraft inspector the technician will conduct watercraft inspections and decontaminations for watercraft entering Lake Powell. Technicians will work closely with other state and federal agency employees, assist, as needed, AIS biologist in other AIS projects (plankton sampling local water bodies for quagga/zebra mussel larvae, presence absence surveys, SCUBA surveys). Maintain open communication with supervisors.

Desired qualifications: Must be able to work a flexible schedule and work weekends/holidays. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess (& maintain) a valid driver’s license. Preference will be given to career minded applicants with or currently working towards completion of a degree in biological/environmental sciences, fisheries, social science, or similar field. Must be able to maintain a positive attitude in unpleasant conditions. Must be willing to wear a work uniform. Smiling is important.

Start and end dates: April/May – September/October or November

Salary/pay: $10.99 per hour
