Type of opportunity: The Department of Environmental Studies at Amherst College invites applications for a tenure-track environmental scientist at the rank of assistant professor whose research intersects with the challenges of climate change.  The department is looking for a person with broad intellectual interests who is committed to teaching and working at a liberal arts college.

Desired qualifications: The successful candidate is expected to establish a high-quality research program that involves undergraduates.  Start-up funding, additional forms of institutional support, state-of-the-art facilities, and a generous leave policy are available to support faculty. Successful candidates will have a strong grounding in quantitative methods and are expected to develop an environmental science course and additional courses in their specialization, and participate in interdisciplinary team-taught introductory and/or senior capstone courses in environmental studies.  A Ph.D. is required, and postdoctoral experience is preferred.

Start and end dates: July 1, 2020 (Full-tme position)
