Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Duties:
- A customer service based position that involves facilitating park interpretive and environmental education programs. Develop and present natural resources/historical related programs to park visitors. Specific Duties may include:
- Schedule, plan and present Junior Ranger programs
- Schedule, plan and present school and group programs
- Schedule, plan and present campfire programs and guided hikes
- Schedule, plan and present outreach programs
- Provide roving interpretation in campgrounds and day use areas
- Work with individual and group volunteers
- May train volunteer naturalists and guide other staff in developing programs
- Work with other State, Federal and local agency naturalists
- Market and promote attendance at programs
- May develop brochures and other written materials
- Work scheduled shifts in Park Visitor Center or Entrance Station
- May represent the Park at special events or programs in park or local community
- Collect, catalog, organize and protect park collections of slides, photographs, specimens, etc.
- May assist with all areas of park operations including maintenance and visitor services.
- Attend assigned training sessions
- Assures quality customer service and assistance to visitors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation (provide motor vehicle record upon hire)
- Must have clean criminal history
- First Aid and CPR certification desired.
- Must be self-motivated, be an accomplished public speaker and have good writing skills
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays
- Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
- Previous education or experience in environmental education, the natural sciences and interest in local natural and cultural history desired
Salary/Pay: From $15.00 Per Hour
Housing Available: Individuals over 18, $40 per month
Start Date: April – May. This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to six months in duration. School schedules may be accommodated
