Organization Overview: Environmental Politics is an international, multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed journal, which provides a forum for the publication of original research into, and discussion and analysis of, the diverse theoretical and empirical aspects of environmental politics. Environmental Politics understands environmental politics very broadly. It includes the multiple ways in which diverse and potentially competing interests and ideas influence how different groups in society value, use, manage, interact with, care about, or seek to regulate the environment. It is primarily concerned with scholarship focusing on: political parties, private actors, NGOs, social movements, and campaigns; the design, negotiation, and implementation of environmental policy; and environmental political thought. The journal also explores the ideas generated by environmental groups and other organizations that underpin policy and governance, and critically and normatively examines environmental concerns.
Position Overview: Environmental Politics is currently recruiting for an Editor-in-Chief. The role is a fantastic opportunity for an academic with expertise in any area of environmental politics and with the commitment, drive, and ability to help lead and develop the journal. As part of this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating a team of Editors, facilitating rigorous peer review, and delivering an agreed amount of content of suitable scope and quality within an agreed publication time frame.
The successful applicant will lead and work collaboratively with the Editorial team in maintaining and developing the national and international reputation of the journal, representing and promoting the journal in international conferences and other forums, and editorial oversight and decision-making on submissions to the journal. You will uphold the highest standards of scholarship for the journal, and will ensure that reviewers, authors, and editors adhere to the Journal’s Code of Publishing Ethics.
Taylor & Francis will support you in all aspects of the role. They provide training and support on all editorial processes and systems, including the online system, Editorial Manager, which facilitates the peer-review process. They will provide you with Editorial Office support for the submission system, regular journal performance data to inform your strategic decision-making, and offer guidance on strategic journal development, publishing ethics, and developments within the publishing landscape.
Taylor & Francis will provide remuneration for the role and cover journal-related expenses.
Qualifications:
- Experience in academic publishing and familiarity with all stages of the process.
- The ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues
- The capacity to devote time each week to the role.
- The ability to ensure all submitted manuscripts are considered in a prompt, consistent and professional manner.
- The ability to confidently use an online peer review management system.
- A commitment to communicating promptly, consistently, and professionally with authors during the peer review process.
- A strong commitment to ethical rigour as well as knowledge of the COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.
- Active engagement with and interest in growing your academic networks.
- A vision and enthusiasm for the continuous development of the journal.
