Position Title: Marketing Director
Organization: Johnson County Tourism Association
Location: Johnson County, WY
Organization Overview: With 189 thousand acres of untamed wilderness, there is room for adventure everywhere you turn in Johnson County, Wyoming. From hiking and horseback riding to mountain biking and mountain climbing to skiing and snow machining, there are plenty of thrills found in and around the Bighorn National Forest year-round.
Position Overview: Hours: Monday through Friday 8 AM- 5 PM. The employee will perform any task assigned by the Board of Directors as required. This position also works for and at the direction of the individuals who are on the Johnson County Tourism Association Board.
Duties:
- Responsible for all marketing efforts for Visit Buffalo Wyoming & JCTA
- Develop and implement marketing strategies.
- Create a holistic marketing plan for the year and manage the marketing chart.
- Explore new marketing trends, tactics, and ideas and be quick to adapt as trends evolve.
- Work with the Tourism Board to establish goals to be measured, evaluated, and analyzed monthly and yearly to ensure constant progress and growth as an organization.
- Manage the visitor email database and oversee all email marketing strategies
- Create and distribute visitor emails within the guidelines of the Visit Buffalo & Kaycee brand.
- Responsible for leading and executing all social media efforts, strategies, and content including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube channel.
- Produce and evaluate reports for website, email marketing, and social media tracking and measure success as it relates to the marketing goals.
- Work with Tourism Board to manage blog content and strategy including posting blogs once received and working with SEO contractor to pursue topics based on keyword research or content needs.
- Work with SEO contractors on PPC campaigns.
- Work with web developer on ongoing projects, requests, maintenance, needs, etc.
- Regularly update and maintain the Visit Buffalo Wyoming website, including content updates, copywriting, optimization of high traffic pages, implementation of changing technologies, and other keeping in mind current best practices.
- Have a well-rounded knowledge of current marketing best practices including but not limited to digital, print, radio, TV, direct mail, out of home, etc.
- Work with Tourism Board to manage marketing contracts.
- Work with Tourism Board to manage marketing funds within the scope of the JCTA budget.
- Identify content needs and work with the Tourism Board to acquire and organize newphotography and video assets.
- Work with state partners such as Wyoming Office of Tourism and regional partners to leverage all possible co-op marketing programs that would benefit JCTA.
- Work on placement and distribution of materials for Visit Buffalo & Kaycee collateral locally and regionally.
- Be a team player and do what is necessary to help grow lodging tax revenue and promote Buffalo and Kaycee as year-round destinations with endless possibilities.
- Assist the Tourism Board with groups and conferences recruitment as needed.
- Public Relations:
- Lead the public relations efforts for Visit Buffalo and Kaycee, including but not limited to working with and recruiting influencers and bloggers, creating and hosting FAM trips, and maintaining a presence at local conferences if needed.
- Produce and distribute press releases as needed.
- Develop tip sheets for distribution and pitching to journalists and influencers.
- Design
- Work on design needs including ads, collateral, creative, content, etc. and have the ability to work under deadlines.
- Work on the annual Visitors’ Guide, brochures, and other various publications.
- Attend monthly Johnson County Tourism Association Board Meetings
- Monthly board meetings take place every 3rd Tuesday of the month unless rescheduled beginning at 1pm and last for approximately 2 hours.
- Administrative assistant will take minutes of the meeting and retype for permanent records.
Qualifications:
Required education and experience
- Degree in marketing, business, communications, or similar from accredited university required.
- Past work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Knowledge of current marketing best practices required with the ability to think creatively outside of the box and adapt quickly to change.
- Strong communication skills required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license issued by a recognized United States governmental agency.
- Must have some knowledge about the Buffalo and Johnson County area. Training will occure but a general knowledge of the area is important.
- Prior work experience with listed references, Associates, or undergraduate degree.
Other Desired Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of CMS and WordPress a plus.
- Knowledge of best practices for SEO, SEM, and Google Analytics a plus.
- Strong copywriting skills preferred.
- Photography skills a plus.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
- Civic or community involvement representing Buffalo outside of the organization considered a plus.

- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
