Position Overview: The Director of Conservation is directly responsible for leadership, management and accountability of the Chapter’s conservation work which include strategies such as private land and water protection, regenerative agriculture, salmon recovery, and improved management of Idaho’s forests and sagebrush ecosystems. They directly supervise staff who implement diverse conservation strategies across Idaho and in partnership with other business units in the West. They provide strategic leadership for the Idaho Chapter, while creating a positive, collaborative, and results-driven culture. They negotiate complex and innovative solutions with diverse partners. They establish the Conservancy as a major conservation partner in Idaho with local communities, tribes, government agencies, other NGOs, donors, and supporters. They negotiate complex and innovative transactions and solutions to ensure strong, equitable, and lasting significant contributions to the Conservancy’s 2030 goals. Requires frequent travel and occasional work during evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree and 7 years’ experience in conservation practice, communications, team leadership or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including managing timelines, finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners.
- Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance of a large multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups, tribes, donors, and/or government agencies.
Salary/Pay: $82,000 – $92,000
