Position Title: Walking Softer Young Leaders Award

Organization Overview: We are a network initiated by diverse sustainability professionals aimed at increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field of sustainability. We aim to do this by equipping current and future Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) sustainability leaders with the skills, networks and resources to accelerate the transition to a sustainable and just future. We also aim to shift the industry to become more inclusive.
Position Overview: Diversity in Sustainability is supporting Walking Softer to nominate a young leader with an award of up to $75,000 USD and a year-long program that aims to support and transform passionate young climate and environmental activists. Walking Softer resources young change makers to learn, experiment, and grow as leaders in order to advance their positive impact on the planet now and for decades to come.
Candidates are assessed based on leadership, passion, business acumen, learning mindset, diversity, and multiple aspects of their submitted project.
Qualifications:
- In 20s and 30s, including a mix of undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and young professionals.
- Can commit to developing an early-stage project, organization or business — either full-time or part-time (20 hours per week for active students) through Spring 2025.
- Are based in the U.S. or Canada. Candidates will only be eligible if they are U.S. or Canada based.
Pay: Up to $75,000
