Position Title: Summer Camp Internship

Organization Overview: Camp Buckner is a located in Burnet, Texas, in beautiful Hill Country where every sunrise and sunset is Instagram-worthy. Camp Buckner provides plenty of space for children and families to explore and try some of our fun activities. Camp is also a wonderful rustic venue for church or youth groups, corporate meetings and events, and more.

Position Overview: Intern will take a leading role in programs and activities for guests to ensure safety and enjoyment. Learning how to plan, facilitate, lead and serve, the intern will be responsible for facilitating various activities including ropes course, canoeing/kayaking, archery, and lifeguarding at the pool and the blob. Intern will work under and alongside different directors of camp operations including activities, kitchen, maintenance, coordination, sales and marketing to learn all the elements that go into making a successful camp. This direction can be broken into weekly areas of focus that will allow for the intern to immerse themselves in the department for the specific time frame. At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have a personalized resume tailored to their desired job field reflecting the transferrable skills they have mastered through their hands-on experience. Instructor will work alongside intern to create, format, and export the resume highlighting the camp experience.

Qualifications: Candidates must be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in Parks and Recreation, Camp Management, Non-Profit, or Hospitality. Candidate should have the ability to work outside in various weather conditions performing a variety of physical tasks. Candidates must possess a current certification or express willingness to obtain certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, Lifeguarding and Waterfront Skills, Challenge Course, and Archery.
Start/End Dates: End of May to Beginning of August
Salary/Pay: Interns can receive up to $4,000 for their time worked at camp, as well as any college credit the university has approved to contribute to the student’s degree program
