Organization: Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality (WORTH) Initiative

Location: Teton County, WY

Organization Overview: The Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality (WORTH) Initiative is collaborating with the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board (JHTTB) to help assess visitor sentiment regarding their experience in Teton County. Teton County is home to some of the highest levels of tourism in the country, particularly outdoor recreation-related, and thus has seen a range of social, ecological, and economic impacts. The JHTTB recently established the Teton County Sustainable Destination Management Plan, a five-year plan intended to ensure that tourism remains a positive force for the people, the environment, and the economy of Teton County. The WORTH Initiative is partnering with the JHTTB as part of its efforts to support the outdoor recreation, tourism, and hospitality industries in Wyoming through applied research, educational projects and services, and extension.  

Position Overview: The WORTH Initiative is seeking two research assistants for this project in Teton County, Wyoming. Research assistants will conduct visitor intercept surveys for 2 sessions: 3 weeks in the winter and 6 weeks in the summer. The winter session will occur in December 2023 and January 2024 of the University of Wyoming’s winter break.

Research assistants will be responsible for professional conduct and proper data collection; training will be provided upon hiring. While research assistants will be expected to travel to Teton County, transportation and lodging will be provided. In addition, research assistants will be provided with per diem for food.
