With nearly half of the state covered by forests, bordered by two Great Lakes and the mighty Mississippi, crisscrossed by 84,000 miles of river, home to more than 15,000 inland lakes, dotted by rocky outcroppings and alive with abundant wildlife, Wisconsin’s natural assets are remarkable. It’s no wonder outdoor recreation is a top reason people visit Wisconsin, as well as a key factor in relocation, second home purchases, and business attraction. There is a direct connection between these natural resources, how they are enjoyed and the economic health and overall well-being of our state and its residents. Position Overview: The Wisconsin Department of Tourism (WDT) is searching for a Program and Outreach Specialist to join the Office of Outdoor Recreation. The position will enhance the outdoor industry in the state by engaging stakeholders and providing resources.
Duties: The primary responsibility of this role is to develop, facilitate, and manage outreach programs and communication strategies for the Office of Outdoor Recreation. The Program and Outreach Specialist will work closely with the Director and staff to ensure that all programs are executed successfully. This includes creating an outreach plan, maintaining a calendar of events, coordinating logistics, and representing the Office at times. Additionally, the Specialist will support the Office’s communication efforts by working on email and website platforms.
Pay: $20-25.56
