Position Overview: SE Group is seeking a Mid-level to Senior Environmental Planning and NEPA Project Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team that specializes in planning and completing environmental analyses for places that are shaped by outdoor recreation, a strong natural resource base, visitation and tourism, or access to public lands. Their project work is extensive and includes some of the most beautiful recreation destinations in the country, such as National Forests, BLM lands, ski resorts, mountain communities, wilderness, and roadless areas. They like to think they have the best site visits! This role is designed for candidates that have clear experience managing NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) projects such as EISs and EAs – please apply if you are able to demonstrate this on your resume.

Duties: As part of the Environmental Services team, this position will assist clients and land management agencies with project planning and the NEPA environmental review process. These projects will primarily focus on outdoor recreation assets as well as conservation efforts to improve forest and ecosystem health.

The key responsibilities may vary depending on your Mid-level to Senior designation, but may include:

  • Mid-level Project Manager: project management of small-to-medium sized projects (e.g., Environmental Assessments), and assistant project management of large, complex projects (e.g., Environmental Impact Statements) under the oversight of a Senior Project Manager
  • Senior Project Manager: project management of large, complex projects with little day-to-day oversight
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, including client relationship management, lead generation, and project proposals
  • Engage in industry thought leadership through publication and panels/presentations

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated 4-10 years experience for Mid-Level Project Manager position and 10+ years experience for Senior Project Manager position, serving as the primary project manager on NEPA projects – this is a required experience to be considered for this role
  • Strong experience with federal and state environmental regulations including NEPA, National Forest Management Act (NFMA), Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA), the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Endangered Species Act (ESA), and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA)
  • Strong understanding of agency processes and procedures and positive existing relationships with federal land management and regulatory agencies, preferably with the US Forest Service (USFS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), National Park Service (NPS), Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), and/or U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)
  • Proven success managing and mentoring small teams

  • Prior experience contributing to business development and marketing

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high results in an independent work setting
  • Note on location: This position is open to a variety of work settings, including remote. SE Group has regional hubs in Utah, Colorado, and Vermont and uses these locations for team-based and project-based gatherings.
