Organization Overview: The Wyoming Wildlife Fellowship, a collaboration between the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming, strives to promote well-rounded and well-prepared wildlife and fisheries professionals through an immersive, supportive, hands-on education and work experience.
Position Overview: The Wyoming Wildlife Fellowship is an opportunity for emerging wildlife and fisheries professionals to learn critical field and scientific skills, develop a strong network with professionals across the state, and overall build the foundation for a successful career. Fellows are guaranteed summer employment with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, get a diversity of hands-on experiences throughout the academic year, receive a scholarship upwards of $3,000/semester, and develop a broad professional network.
Duties: Each semester, Fellows complete 20 hours of service projects related to wildlife work, and once per academic year enroll in a once-per-week seminar focusing on career skills and wildlife research. For two summers, Fellows are guaranteed employment with the WGFD, positions ranging widely.
Qualifications: The Fellowship is open to any undergraduates at the University of Wyoming, including transfer students and incoming freshmen, who are interested in wildlife and fisheries management and conservation and who have at least 2 full years (4 semesters, 2 summers) left in their undergraduate degree. Fellows must be 18 years old at the start of the Fellowship and must have a college GPA of at least 3.0 or high school GPA of 3.25 to be eligible for or remain in the program.
Start/End Dates: Fall 2024 Semester
Salary/Pay: variable, approx. 3k/semester, summers paid
