Organization Overview: Created by voters in 1992, GOCO uses a portion of Colorado Lottery proceeds to protect and enhance Colorado’s parks, trails, wildlife, rivers, and open spaces in all 64 counties. It awards competitive grants to local governments, land trusts, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and makes investments directly through CPW. 

Position Overview: The coordinator position supports the work of the ten-person programs team by providing staff with essential administrative, office, and logistics support. This position requires a dependable individual who has excellent administrative, organizational, and communication skills when working with colleagues, board members, and statewide partners. They must be flexible, proactive, and process-oriented to assist with moving team efforts along. The coordinator reports to the manager of programs with frequent interaction with the programs team, communications team, executive coordinator, and other department staff to advance collaborative objectives shared between the communications and executive teams.

Duties: 

Programs Team Support (70%)

  • Work with the team in execution of grant cycle processes, including application intake, tracking, coordinating review meetings, and development of committee and board materials.
  • Assist the programs team with correspondence, calendar management, roadshow coordination, meeting coordination, partner workshops, team strategy sessions, key meetings, webinars, and travel itineraries as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, site visits, and workshops, including budget, consultant and vendor management, agenda and workplan development, event communication, and recruitment as needed.
  • Serve as a lead or co-lead on one or more of GOCO’s special opportunities, partner or associate programs, and other programs and opportunities that emerge as organizational priorities.
  • Generating reports, spreadsheets, slide decks, and other organizational needs.
  • Coordinate data collection related to grants and evaluation.
  • Create, analyze, and update processes for efficiency and effectiveness; identify opportunities to incorporate new technology into systems.
  • Attend meetings as part of the programs team for status updates, project planning, and other purposes.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as database updates, creating templates, and shipping materials.

Communications and Executive Team Support (30%)

  • Work collaboratively with the communications team to develop and deliver external program portfolio related communications strategies.
  • Serve as a liaison with the communications team to coordinate press release review with partners, supply data for GOCO’s annual report and other uses, recommend projects for storytelling and special features on the website, audit website content, staff events, and ship marketing collateral and signage.
  • Support the executive coordinator with logistics and execution of board and committee meetings, site visits, events, and travel, to include assisting with on-site functions the day of events and serving as a secondary point of contact.
  • Assist with event and meeting planning, including identifying locations, creating event briefings, polling for attendance, publicly noticing meetings, electronic meeting recordings, and following up on action items identified in board and committee meetings.
  • Assist with staff retreats, volunteer days, and team-building activities.
  • Work with staff to maintain a clean and high functioning office space.
  • General office support, including serving as the day-to-day point person for greeting office visitors, maintaining office supplies and equipment (technology, phones, printers, etc.); and collecting, sorting, and distributing mail.
  • Maintain GOCO vehicle registrations and service records.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in a closely related field
  • A demonstrated commitment to customer service and a positive and constructive view and practice of working with others and building relationships
  • Self-motivated, independent, proactive, and forward-thinking
  • Technologically savvy; proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and willing and able to learn various web platforms/applications (e.g., Dropbox, DocuSign, and Microsoft Teams) currently used by the organization
  • Diplomatic and tactful
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized
  • Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to work with all team members and people different from themselves
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of diverse projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with database and/or customer relationship management programs
  • Consistent willingness to learn and upgrade skills to meet GOCO’s needs
  • A high level of diplomacy, tact, and optimism and a “can do” orientation
  • Geographical knowledge of Colorado

Salary/Pay: $50,000 – $70,000
