Position Title: Wildlife Migration Coordinator

Organization: Utah Division of Wildlife Resources

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Position Overview: Are you someone who loves wildlife and has a deep understanding of the biological and social issues that Utah wildlife face? In this role, you will collaborate closely with regional managers and district biologists to conduct and implement migration and movement monitoring projects. Additionally, you will work with universities, sportsmen and women, agricultural partners, and federal agencies to identify migration corridors and barriers that connect wildlife habitats on Utah landscapes. As part of your responsibilities, you will also assist in research, supervise and implement a Wildlife Tracker, which is a GIS visualization tool. This is a one-of-a-kind position that requires someone with not only the biological knowledge but also the social skills to work with a diverse group of stakeholders and promote a spirit of cooperation.

Duties: 

  • Oversee the Utah Migration Initiative
  • Supervise personnel
  • Administer and Manage Wildlife Tracker
  • Coordinate with and facilitate data sharing with universities
  • Coordinate with other state and federal agencies to input on planning efforts incorporating wildlife movement data
  • Work with outreach to generate materials promoting the Utah Migration Initiative

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A MS in Wildlife Management or related field
  • A thorough understanding of GIS systems, tools, and data analysis
  • Experience as a supervisor
  • Ability to build and maintain external and internal partnerships
  • Experience implementing major wildlife-related initiatives or programs

Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field. Additional preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree in a wildlife-related natural resources field or other applicable field that is beneficial for the position. Preference for years of demonstrated successful full-time work experience will vary based on the specific position.

Salary/Pay: $28.67 – $33.47 Hourly
