Position Title: Habitat Stewardship Coordinator

Organization Overview: Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) is a North American nonprofit organization with chapters throughout Canada and the United States. BHA seeks to ensure North America’s outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing in a natural setting, through education and work on behalf of wild public lands, waters, and wildlife.

Position Overview: They are seeking an individual with the talent, passion and initiative to promote BHA’s mission and to collaborate with state and federal land management agencies on organization and implementation of their fish and wildlife habitat conservation work. The Habitat Stewardship Coordinator will work directly with Bureau of Land Management & BHA staff to carry out fence removal and modification work in high priority areas identified and approved by BLM staff. This individual will also work with volunteers and partner organizations, to advance meaningful fish and wildlife habitat conservation and restoration work on BLM land by improving habitat permeability through fence removals and modifications. This national BHA staff member will work under supervision of the BHA Stewardship Manager.
The ideal candidate will work with a high level of autonomy and be flexible and organized in a fast-paced work environment. They will be able to quickly analyze and solve problems, collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders, prepare professional reports that accurately document activities, adhere to standards of confidentiality and communicate effectively. The successful candidate will represent BHA with integrity and champion the mission and values in all facets of their work.
