Position Title: Senior Recreation Leader – Climbing Gym
Organization: Teton County Parks and Recreation
Location: Jackson, WY
Organization Overview: A municipal community recreation center serving Teton County local residents and guests.
Position Overview: Teton County Parks and Recreation Center will be opening a new 10,000 square foot indoor rock climbing facility in May 2024. Looking to hire 2 full-time, year-round benefited positions.
Duties:
- Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the indoor climbing facility, associated programs and activities.
- Providing facility orientations, belay lessons and belay checks.
- Assisting with the enforcement of facility rules, guidelines and procedures.
- Providing facility control desk support, point of sale rental and general customer service.
- Supporting the maintenance, general care and set-up of climbing facilities.
- Overseeing, leading, and assisting with various activities; observes participants during program.
- Participating in facility or venue set-up, clean-up, and sanitation.
- Supporting the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintaining confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; and performing other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a climbing facility, or combination of relevant climbing experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in recreation programs or working with children
- Must possess or ability to obtain a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required Facility belay certifications.
- Climbing Wall Instruction Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months.
- Required Knowledge of:
- Recreation site safety rules and regulations.
- Methods of program planning and implementation.
- Principles, practices, and methods of conflict resolution and problem solving.
- Required Skills in:
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely
- Assessing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
- Administering basic first aid.
- Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Work is performed both in an indoor or protected environment and outdoors. The incumbent may be occasionally exposed to unfavorable conditions while located at County facilities or at other locations during the course of business.
- Required to work routine nights and weekends as regular schedule.
- Required to work unsupervised in the presence of children or vulnerable adults.
Start/End Dates: Full-Time Year-Round
Salary/Pay: $22.18 to $23.54 per hour
