Position Title: Fish and Wildlife Biometrician

Organization: Idaho Fish and Game

Location: Boise, ID

Position Overview:The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is seeking a Biometrician. This position will be part of the Wildlife Research Program and will provide a variety of statistical and analytical support to IDFG statewide. The position will be stationed at our Headquarters office in Boise.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.) 

(Typically gained by a master’s degree in Statistics, Statistical Ecology, Quantitative Ecology, or Fisheries/Wildlife Biology [quantitative emphasis] OR a closely related quantitative field and a minimum of 20 semester hours of mathematics and/or statistics.) 

The ideal candidate will have a PhD and two or more years of professional work experience as a biometrician or quantitative research biologist in a natural resources-related field as well as a strong publication record. They also will have knowledge of a broad range of statistical analyses (e.g., GLMMs, hierarchal Bayesian models, machine learning) and coding languages or applications (e.g., Python, Jags, program R) and experience managing large wildlife datasets and/or remotely sensed, landscape-scale layers. Additional consideration may be given at the time of interview to candidates who have this training and/or experience. Salary/Pay: $31.73 – $39.66 per hour DOE, Plus Competitive Benefits
