Position Title: Graduate Research Assistantship

Position Overview: Seeking an Indigenous Graduate student to pursue a MS or PhD in Environmental or Geological Engineering with a focus in Water Resources/Soil Science. The selected student will work with me in collaboration with the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians located in North Central North Dakota.

Project Description: Explore the impacts of an agricultural dominated region on wetland water quality. Investigate controlled crop type, stubble heights, and stalk density on snow accumulation, soil organic carbon and nutrients and runoff flowing into wetlands. This project will be conducted using a combination of field-based observations and process based water quality modeling.

Start/End Dates: Project runs from 2024 – 2027

Salary/Pay:
