Position Title: Climate and Health Equity Program Coordinator
Organization: Ventura County Health Care Agency
Location: Ventura County, CA
Position Overview: Under direction, develops and coordinates climate and health equity community education, initiates and develops intersectoral collaborations to address climate change and environmental issues as public health priorities; and performs related duties as required.
Duties:
- Develops, facilitates climate and community health education and community outreach for appropriate climate adaptation and health resilience education to meet community needs.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates program and staff activities including internal trainings on climate and health equity and community outreach activities.
- Serves as liaison with representatives from state, County, and local agencies, local hospitals and clinics, and the community to share information on climate and health and to identify potential collaborative projects.
- Serves as VCPH climate change and health equity subject matter expert.
- Serves as VCPH representative at workgroups, meetings, conferences, workshops, and other forums related to climate change and health.
- Prepares and reviews written reports, presentations, and other materials for outreach and education.
- Coordinates and participates in community outreach and engagement on the topic of climate change and health.
Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of experience in social work, community health, mental health or education, including responsibility for program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- At least one (1) year of the qualifying experience must be in climate change and health equity.
Necessary Special Requirements
- Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License
- Considerable skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must possess excellent public speaking skills
Desired:
- Graduate degree in public health, environmental health or related field
- Considerable program development experience
Salary/Pay: $61,136.59 – $85,704.64 Annually
