Position Title: Assistant Professor of Climate Change Solutions

Position Overview:
The Rausser College of Natural Resources (University of California, Berkeley) seeks applicants for a tenure track (assistant professor) position in the area of “Climate Change Solutions,” spanning climate mitigation and/or adaptation. Expected start date is July 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be invited to join one of the following departments: Agricultural and Resource Economics (ARE); the Energy and Resources Group (ERG); or Environmental Science, Policy, and Management (ESPM).
Human-induced climate change is transforming our physical and social world, and research that advances solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation is an urgent priority. We take a broad view of climate solutions, encompassing economics, policy, environmental justice, energy transition, ecosystem management, carbon sequestration and storage, and more. Applicants should explain how their current and future research will address the climate challenge. As part of the application process, applicants will be asked to identify the one department they would like to be considered by.
Successful applicants will be expected to develop an internationally recognized program and to develop research initiatives in climate solutions. We seek rising leaders from diverse fields and themes including, but not limited to, climate and environmental economics, climate policy, climate equity and environmental justice, environmental science, risk perception, ecosystem science, and nature-based solutions. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of strong research productivity, potential for securing extramural funding, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduates, graduate students, and post-docs. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to their home department’s teaching program. They will also have the opportunity to contribute to RCNR’s new Master of Climate Solutions program. Qualifications: PhD (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in PhD or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.
Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2025
Salary/Pay: $78,200–$151,600
