Position Title: Executive Director

Position Overview: The Executive Director of the Riverton Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center plays a pivotal role in fostering economic growth, promoting tourism, and enhancing the overall business environment within the community. This leadership position requires a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a strong background in marketing, a keen understanding of tourism-based economies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with and between Chamber members, local government officials, community members, and Chamber staff.
Duties:
- Cultivate relationships with Chamber business members by providing resources, support, and networking opportunities to foster their success, while actively expanding the Chamber through new memberships to enhance collective prosperity.
- Proactively engage with community members, pulling them into the collective vision, by fostering a sense of belonging and ownership within the larger community.
- Foster collaboration and build value with local government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to leverage resources and support initiatives that benefit the local economy and membership businesses.
- Serve as a primary liaison between the Chamber, City of Riverton, Fremont County and state leadership and legislators, advocating for the interests of the local business community and fostering positive relationships to address issues affecting local businesses.
- Effectively maintain relationships within the Riverton community to further the objectives of the Chamber.
- Craft and implement a comprehensive marketing plan and budget to enhance Riverton’s visibility and tourism.
- Maintain marketing accounts with vendors, ensuring effective partnerships and maximizing promotional efforts.
- Manage the Chamber website (wyriverton.com), social media accounts, and weekly themed e-newsletters ensuring quality & content accuracy, relevance, and user engagement.
- Conduct outreach and maintain relationships with media outlets to secure articles promoting the Riverton Chamber, it’s members, vision and offerings.
- Supervise operations at the Riverton Chamber Visitors Center, ensuring a welcoming environment, providing accurate information, and addressing visitor inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.
- Manage staff education and communication to ensure team members are knowledgeable about local attractions, events, and Public Land initiatives.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for enhancing the tourism industry, including tourist attractions, accommodation facilities, and visitor experiences.
- Organize and oversee Chamber events, including networking mixers, business seminars, and community festivals, to promote member engagement and drive economic activity.
- Produce various monthly informational Lunch & Learn events focused on member needs. Arrange lectures, workshops and training seminars on different issues and opportunities for small business owners. Develop weekly e-newsletters that address workforce training and best business management practices.
- Work to develop a positive economic growth climate in the county that is valuable to industry sectors targeted by the EGG (economic growth group). Facilitate business recruitment efforts.
- Work with membership to take advantage of tourism promotion efforts. Create materials and events to heighten tourism, revitalization efforts, retention and expansion programs, and infrastructure development.
- Work with the city, county and state government, business, and other organizations to encourage diverse economic growth. Participate in the quality-of-life improvement initiatives.
- Attend conferences, meetings, and training sessions to remain informed about emerging economic opportunities, industry trends, and key drivers impacting the Riverton community.
- Arrange for all meetings and events for the Chamber including the monthly social events, ribbon cuttings and community meetings. Responsible for providing informational and business-building content to the membership.
- Develop with the board, and implement strategic plans in alignment with the Chamber’s mission and goals, guiding the organization toward sustainable growth and prosperity.
- Establish and oversee the Chamber’s budget, ensuring prudent financial management and accountability in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Oversee all aspects of staff management, including hiring, scheduling, and aligning their activities with organizational objectives. Provide leadership and guidance to Chamber staff, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring effective execution of organizational objectives.
- Report to and collaborate with the Executive Board to ensure adherence to the Chamber’s bylaws, fostering transparency, accountability, and effective governance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within a Chamber of Commerce, DMO, or economic development organization.
- Requires job enthusiasm and the ability to work some early mornings, evenings and weekends. Must Believe in Riverton’s Bright Future and help others to believe as well.
- Must be a strategic thinker with the ability to identify and leverage good opportunities that arise, with strong solution development skills.
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and experience developing and implementing marketing strategies.
- Knowledge of tourism industry and best practices, with track record of driving tourism growth.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with government officials and staff at the local, county, and state levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and financial management skills, with experience creating and managing budgets, grants, and resources, and implementing revenue-generating initiatives to support the Chamber’s financial sustainability. Sales skills are advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and familiarity with CRM software preferred.
Salary/Pay: $54,500.00 – $60,000.00 per year
