Position Title: Seasonal Programs Coordinator
Organization: Wyoming State Parks & Cultural Resources
Location: Cheyenne, WY
Position Overview: If you have a passion for history and an interest in museums, working for Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources might be for you! The Seasonal Programs Coordinator will work at three exciting sites in the state’s southeast corner— the Quebec 01 Missile Alert Facility State Historic Site, the Wyoming Historic Governors’ Mansion, and the Wyoming State Museum.
Duties:
- Program Planning and Assistance – Assist with logistical event needs like making shopping lists, buying supplies, planning event layouts, making event programs, preparing crafts and activities, developing internal signage, registering guests, and setting up/taking down events and displays.
- Marketing and Communication – Promote and communicate about site offerings by writing event descriptions, creating fliers and promotional graphics, developing event signage, posting on social media, and sending event information to target audiences.
- Interpretation – Teach the public about the history at each site by leading tours, developing activities and crafts, running booths at outreach events, and writing trivia questions.
- Volunteer Engagement – Contribute to strong volunteer programs at each site by working collaboratively with volunteers, posting volunteer opportunities, providing necessary details to volunteers, and drafting volunteer schedules.
- Customer Service – Greet visitors, respond to phone calls and emails, collect admission fees, collect gift shop fees, reconcile cash register at shift end, and assist with gift shop inventory.
- Building Management – Help manage the Wyoming Governor’s Mansion building by opening and closing the site. Provide basic housekeeping/outdoor duties including dusting, arranging furniture, vacuuming, cleaning public restrooms as needed, snow shoveling, and basic lawn maintenance.
- Collaborate with staff to fulfill program needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments and tasks.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with visitors from around the world.
- Experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work.
- Ability to work both alone and with a team.
- Strong communication skills to meet the needs of various audiences
- Knowledge of Google Suite (or similar)
Salary/Pay: $15/hour
