Position Overview: Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking candidates for our Clean Energy Summer Internship Program. The Transportation Electrification Intern will provide supporting research on the viability and impact of various state and local policies on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector. The Transportation Electrification Intern will play an important role in helping to further understand, strategize and maintain research priorities the Transportation Electrification team is planning to engage on focused on accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and deployment of charging infrastructure. The intern will report to the Transportation Electrification Manager and work closely with WRA’s Transportation Electrification team, with opportunities to learn and grow while working with other clean energy professionals

Duties:

  • Help develop research outlining key policies for state clean transportation advocates to prioritize in the current political context.
  • Develop written memos or papers on various aspects of WRA’s transportation electrification work.
  • Read complex regulatory documents and provide concise summaries of their contents for WRA Staff.
  • Accompany staff to state- or municipal-level advocacy meetings, stakeholder engagement activities, and other related activities as appropriate.
  • Present findings to WRA staff and partners at other organizations as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communicator, written and verbal.
  • Strong research and analytic skills.
  • Motivated to take ownership of projects and demonstrate follow-through to complete tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Interest in exploring conservation and/or policy work.
  • Knowledge or experience in Western clean energy policy, science or management, or other closely related conservation areas, is preferred.

Salary/Pay: Interns are paid $20.00 per hour. This is a part-time internship with an expectation to work 15-20 hours a week over the course of the internship (approximately 14-16 weeks).
