Position Title: Property & Trails Coordinator

Organization: Coal Basin Ranch Community Trail System

Location: Coal Basin Ranch, Redstone, CO

Duties

  • Check trails, facilities, and all lands regularly to ensure appropriate maintenance and no major issues. Conduct regular safety assessments of the property; mitigate safety issues.
  • Communicate and enforce ranch rules/etiquette.
  • When ranch manager is not available, act as point for any unanticipated issues on the ranch related to daily operations.
  • Maintain, inspect emergency equipment supplies on site.
  • Ensure that during times when cattle are being moved through right-of-ways on the property,
    that they do not remain on-property. Install and inspect e-fencing. Mitigate cattle trespass as
    needed.
  • Aid with trail maintenance projects.
  • Work with and help lead partner trail work crews.
  • Install signage. Install game cameras and trail counters.
  • Conduct/assist with restoration work, including weed mitigation, staking trees, moving sprinkler lines, dispersing soil and seed.
  • Manage irrigation equipment for restoration sites.
  • General maintenance of fencing, signage, kiosks, facilities, picnic tables, etc.
  • Trash pickup and removal; site upkeep
  • Tool maintenance and organization
  • Pest mitigation (flies, mice)
  • Work with ranch manager to lead volunteer work days.
  • Interface with the public and special use groups.
  • Maintain positive relations while interacting with partners such as USFS, Pitkin County, cattlemen’s association, youth devo groups and other entities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in property management or equivalent work experience, including irrigation sys-
    tems.
  • Experience in mountain bike trail maintenance.
  • Ability to work extended hours outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to conduct trail work and landscaping work, including invasive weed mitigation.
  • Passion for mountain biking and sharing the sport with others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage with the general public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Self-starter with a track record of going above and beyond what is asked.
  • Wilderness First Aid or higher certification required. Course work provided at Coal Basin
    Ranch if needed.
  • Chain saw certification level B or higher desired.
  • Landscaping or restoration background desired.

Start/End Dates: May 15, 2025–Nov. 1, 2025

Salary/Pay: $35-$40/hour. Not eligible for benefits.
