Laramie, WY
Position Title: Sustainability Coalition Junior Co-Leaders Fall 2025 – Spring 2026
Organization: University of Wyoming
Location: Laramie, WY
Position Overview: The current Sustainability Coalition co-leaders, in discussion with the faculty advisor and membership, identify two junior co-leaders to shadow and support leaders in a small, four-person leadership team. This approach supports our innovative, shared leadership model, which has garnered us multiple awards. Specifically, this builds institutional memory and morale and avoids the pitfalls inherent in student leadership transition. These leader-in-training roles entail several hours per week during the first year and will increase in the second year of the internship. This time commitment allows for more substantial work than being a part of the general Sustainability Club membership. Following best practices for equitable mentorship and leadership development, this internship will be compensated at $12/hr for 2 hours/week in the first year, moving to 5 hours/week in the second year. We are aware that this may not fully reflect the week-to-week workload, but we must operate within budgeting constraints.
Duties:
- Attendance at all leadership and membership meetings
- Project management, file management, and accounting in collaboration with other leaders
- Attendance at meetings and events as necessary, including weekly Coalition Meetings and monthly meetings with the Campus Sustainability Committee
- Shadow Senior Leaders at key meetings (e.g., PCCR, ASUW Funding Board, etc.)
- Support social media and outreach to membership
- Identify and implement exciting projects of their own (e.g., waste buffets, recycling center tours, clothing drive)
- Major event planning and implementation (e.g., Solar Fest, Earth Day, Shepard Symposium, zero waste and sustainability summit)
- Maintain and develop partnerships with other sustainability partners, such as PCCR, Alliance for Renewable Energy, Campus Sustainability Committee, Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, Shepard Symposium on Social Justice, and Sierra Club Wyoming
Start/End Dates: AY 2025 – 2026
