Job Title: Biology & Soils Field Technician

Organization: Wyoming Natural Diversity Database (Univ. of Wyoming)

Location: Laramie, Wyoming

Duties:

  • Learn and use methods for collecting biological, hydrological, and soils data
  • After training, reliably distinguish Rorippa calycina from similar species
  • Accurately and legibly record measurements and notes
  • Willingly work long days, sometimes in inclement weather
  • Camp for up to 5 nights at a time
  • Navigate using GPS receiver, compass, and topographic map

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess:

  • A strong work ethic
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS. These qualifications will give applicants an advantage:

  • Coursework or other experience in identifying plants or wetland soil features, or both
  • Experience measuring & recording biological, hydrological, or soils data in the field
  • Experience driving on rough roads • Knowledge of the regional flora
  • Understanding of wetland soils • Understanding of hydrology

Start/End dates: Start June 1, 2020 / end August 14, 2020

Salary/pay: $15 – $17 / hour depending on experience, with overtime, + $20 per diem when camping
