Job Title: Biology & Soils Field Technician
Organization: Wyoming Natural Diversity Database (Univ. of Wyoming)
Location: Laramie, Wyoming
Duties:
- Learn and use methods for collecting biological, hydrological, and soils data
- After training, reliably distinguish Rorippa calycina from similar species
- Accurately and legibly record measurements and notes
- Willingly work long days, sometimes in inclement weather
- Camp for up to 5 nights at a time
- Navigate using GPS receiver, compass, and topographic map
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess:
- A strong work ethic
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS. These qualifications will give applicants an advantage:
- Coursework or other experience in identifying plants or wetland soil features, or both
- Experience measuring & recording biological, hydrological, or soils data in the field
- Experience driving on rough roads • Knowledge of the regional flora
- Understanding of wetland soils • Understanding of hydrology
Start/End dates: Start June 1, 2020 / end August 14, 2020
Salary/pay: $15 – $17 / hour depending on experience, with overtime, + $20 per diem when camping
