Job Title: Undergraduate Summer Research Internship

Organization: University of Wyoming

Type of opportunity: Seeking a motivated, enthusiastic undergraduate student who wants to gain pest management research experience. Projects will combine field research on producer land and at research farms, laboratory work, and development of outreach communication. Research topics include alfalfa insect pest management, biological control, and weed management effects on bees. The position will be based at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, although considerable day-trip driving through southeast WY will occur. Interns will work with a team of grad students and faculty (Dr. Jabbour).

Required qualifications: Strong work ethic, valid driver’s license, availability 40 hours M – F 7:30am-5pm (with occasional earlier work due to heat), willingness to work outdoors in hot and difficult conditions, willingness and interest in working with insects. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail, and communicate effectively. Basic computer skills.

Desired Qualifications: Major related to agriculture or life sciences, previous coursework or research experience in entomology, interest, and enthusiasm for developing well-designed outreach materials for agricultural producers (includes written, video, web-based, and social media communications).

Start and end dates: Mid-May through Mid-August, full-time paid position

Salary/pay: $12-14 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
