Job Title: SEO Tutor for ESS 4001 – Analysis of Nature’s Data
Organization: University of Wyoming
Overview:The purpose of this job is to work with students to develop sustainable study skills, clarify information relevant to the coursework, and build a positive attitude with the student toward higher education and constructive learning. SEO/Academic Services provides tutorial support to students in multiple educational grant programs. The position offers flexible scheduling and the amount of hours worked per week is negotiable. Pay is competitive compared to UW’s other tutoring centers ($10/hour), and SEO tutors have full control over their schedules (no obligation to work a certain number of hours per week).
Duties: As a tutor, primary job responsibilities will be meeting with students to check on progress within the class, answer relevant questions, and challenge the student to best utilize their course materials to improve in the class. In addition, tutors will be highly encouraged to attend the monthly trainings as well as the CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) trainings provided by STEP. Tutors will also be in charge of filling out needed paperwork in a timely fashion for payroll purposes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: At least three semesters of postsecondary education.
- Experience: Must have received at least a ‘B’ in a class that they wish to tutor (although an ‘A’ is preferred).
- Other requirements: Preference will be given to students who have at least a 3.0 GPA.
Desired Qualifications: Requested tutoring subjects may change from semester to semester so please keep in mind that we will be giving special preference to those who are interested in tutoring a wider range of coursework. Some of the common fields we look for include biology, health sciences, business/accounting, engineering, environmental sciences, writing, chemistry, language, education, and mathematics.
