Position Title: 2 Year Masters in Forestry

Project Overview: A funded two-year MSc position is available in the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver under the supervision of Prof. Hamish van der Ven. The expected start date is May 2022. The successful candidate will contribute to a SSHRC-funded project called ‘Investigating the Impacts of Clicktivism on Corporate Environmental Practices.’ As part of their studies, the candidate will be expected to provide research assistance as well as conduct their own independent research in-line with the project description. There is also the possibility of additional funding through the Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) program. Eligibility:
- Domestic and international applicants are welcome
- Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements for admission established by the UBC Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies office (and departmental requirements)
- All applicants must meet eligibility requirements to live and study in Canada
Preferred Qualifications:
- A background in the environmental social sciences
- Excellent communication and writing skills in English
- Fluency in quantitative methods and software (SPSS, Stata or R) OR fluency in qualitative methods and software (NVivo)
- Previous experience working on large research projects
- A demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Salary/pay:The guaranteed rate of funding is $18,200 CAD per year for two years
