Position Title: Conservation Officer
Organization: Department of Game, Fish, and Parks
Location: Rapid City, Pierre, Sioux Falls, and Watertown, SD
Duties: The Conservation Officer Intern will assist Conservation Officers with various day to day activities. Activities include huntsafe programs, boat safety inspections, parks enforcement, license compliance checks, calls for service from the public, and Step Outside events. Conservation Officer Intern will be responsible for keeping a daily log of activities completed and submit a weekly summary of these activities to the immediate supervisor. Intern will also be required to photograph their activities and give a presentation at the end of the summer to Regional staff.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply.
- By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months).
- Preference will be given to applicants with a junior standing, South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Salary/pay: $17.19/hour
Start and end dates: May-August 2022
