Organization Overview: KC Harvey is an environmental consulting and professional field services firm headquartered in Bozeman, Montana; seeking seasonal employees to conduct vegetation surveys and assist with reclamation activities in Wyoming. Positions are seasonal and full time, with two possible durations: Mid-May to Mid-August (for current students) or April through November. Employees starting in May could continue through November as well, with employment beyond these dates possible depending on project needs. Employees who demonstrate the ability to work independently can be considered for full time positions within the KC Harvey organization.
Position Title: Reclamation Field Technician
Location: Rawlins, WY
Duties:
- Conduct environmental compliance monitoring including vegetation monitoring and stormwater inspections
- Observe and record rangeland health conditions
- Identify plants using a key
- Identify soil erosional features
- Summarize field data
- Control weeds using truck, ATV/UTV, or backpack mounted herbicide spray equipment
- Navigate using digital maps
- Map new and existing features using ArcGIS Collector on tablet computers
- Assist with site specific reclamation plans
- Install erosion control best management practices
- Re-vegetate disturbed areas by seeding
- Install and maintain snow fences and fencing/grazing enclosures
Ideal candidates will have education and/or experience in range ecology, environmental science, biology, weed science, agriculture, or related fields. Candidates must have a positive attitude, be willing to learn, work well as part of a team, and enjoy working outdoors. Candidates must be willing to maintain high standards of safety, have a clean driving record, and participate in pre-employment drug screening. Due to vehicle insurance requirements, candidates must be 21 years of age or older as of start date.
Salary/pay: DOE from $16-18/hour plus overtime. Lodging and a meal allowance are provided.

Position Title: Stormwater Field Technician
Location: South Central Wyoming (Company Housing Provided in Rawlins, Wyoming)
Duties:
- Conduct field stormwater inspections
- Identify, map, and document soil erosion features
- Recommend maintenance, repair, or replacement of stormwater erosion controls
- Assist with maintenance, repair, and replacement of stormwater erosion controls
- Update inspection and repair documentation in a digital data management system
- Additional job tasks may include the following:
- Conduct environmental compliance monitoring, (vegetation, erosion, reclamation)
- Identify plants using a key
- Control weeds using truck, ATV/UTV, or backpack mounted herbicide spray equipment
- Re-vegetate disturbed areas by seeding
- Assist with other land reclamation tasks
- Assist with vegetation surveys
Bachelor’s degree graduates and current students will be considered for these positions. Candidates with experience in stormwater inspections and maintenance are preferred. SWPPP certification is also preferred. Applicants must be able to maintain a positive attitude and be willing to learn. Candidates must work well as part of a team and be willing to work outdoors doing fieldwork. Map use and interpretation skills are required. Candidates must maintain high standards of safety, have a clean driving record, and participate in pre-employment drug screening. Due to vehicle insurance requirements, candidates must be 21 years of age or older as of start date. Travel to southern Wyoming is required.

Position Title: Reclamation Crew Foreman or Laborer
Location: Western North Dakota
Duties: Manage a 3-5-person crew completing the following activities:
- Oil well pad reclamation seeding
- Hydro-seeding, hydro-mulching and straw mulching
- Barbed wire fence installation and repair
- Pipeline and powerline right-of-way restoration and seeding
- Installation of stormwater best management practices (silt fences, straw
- wattles, erosion blanket, etc.)
- Weed control (mowing and herbicide application)
- Driving light truck and trailers for mobilizing equipment.
- Operate the following types of equipment:
- Compact Track Loader
- Tractor and straw bale processor (Haybuster)
- Tractor seeder and skidsteer seeder
- Silt fence plow
- Crimper disc
- One-ton trucks and trailers.
Candidates do not need experience in all of the categories listed above, but familiarity with the tasks and equipment operation is preferable.
Required Qualifications:
- Maintain a positive attitude, be willing to learn, and work well as part of a team
- Work long hours in the field, sometimes in inclement conditions
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Know how to use and interpret maps
- Have experience driving pickup trucks and/or ATVs in off-road environments
- Have basic computer skills
- Maintain high standards of safety
- Have a clean driving record
- Participate in pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oil field experience
- Oil field safety training (i.e., OSHA 40/10, SafeLand, H2S, etc.)
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Salary/pay: Starting at $23/hour for foreman, $17-20 for laborer with significant overtime potential. Lodging and per diem are provided.
