Job Title: National Park Tour Guide

Locations: Jackson, WY; Island Park, ID, Big Sky & Bozeman, MT

Position Overview: Obsidian Expeditions is seeking a safe, professional, vibrant, and conscientious tour guide with an outgoing and authentic personality to lead our valued guests on engaging and entertaining private tours of Jackson Hole, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone National Park. You must be able to command the attention of 2-8 guests (including kids) for several hours while accurately interpreting the cultural and natural history of the region. It would be best if you were an excellent storyteller with a knack for customer service and able to conduct minor alterations to each itinerary to suit the unique interests of each group of guests. To ensure your success, they offer extensive professional and in-house training.

Duties:

• Display excellent communication skills and effectively express our company’s mission, vision, goals, objectives, and unique value proposition to guests
• Interpret the cultural and natural history of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem while providing a high-energy, interactive, and educational experience for guests
• Drive on paved and unpaved roads and lead a series of short day hikes to help guests explore various points of interest
• Follow all safety guidelines to ensure guest comfort and safety and record and report any unusual incidents or violations of safety guidelines
• Endure unpredictable weather, high altitudes, and drive 9-10 hours/day
• Suggest creative ways to attract more customers and promote the brand, including writing, producing, and uploading textual, photographic, and video content to our social media platforms
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Clean Driving Record (no major moving violations in the last three (3) years)
• Must be 25 years of age or older (it’s a commercial insurance requirement)
• Current drivers license
• Current CPR & First Aid Certification
• Current ServSafe Food Handler’s Certification
• Able to pass a Commercial Driver Medical Exam
• Good physical condition (Able to frequently, quickly, and easily climb in and out of a van, walk up to 5-miles a day on uneven terrain, and occasionally lift 35 lbs.)
• Certified to work in the U.S. without restrictions for any employer
  

Desired Qualifications:

• Reliable and responsible; able to work unsupervised, make quick decisions, and manage continually-changing situations wisely and professionally
• Easy-going, flexible, and patient; not easily agitated (or at least not showing it!)
• Experientially educated; able to recite facts accurately and improvise on the fly Sense of humor; quick to smile, laugh and put others at ease
• Dependable and punctual; showing up-on time-when scheduled
• Good communication skills; promptly responding to texts, emails, or phone calls
• Available to work a minimum of 2-3 days/week between May 1st thru October 31st, 2022
• Computer savvy; with basic computer, email, word processing, and social media skills

Start/End Dates: April 1 – October 31

Salary/pay:

• $22.00-$33.50 per hour (depending on experience)
• Up to $5K end of season bonus (based on performance)
• Up to $500 professional training and certification reimbursement
• $50-$500 per tour in gratuities
