Job Title: Survey Scout

Organization: Plant Health: Animal and Plant Health Inspection USDA

Location: Wyoming

Duties:

  • Conducting visual surveys for specific weeds and insect pests
  • Conducting and trapping surveillance for pest programs
  • Conducting biological control releases and collections
  • Conducting management programs which may involve insecticide applications

Travel: Employees will be expected to travel within Wyoming. Expect to travel several weeks per month. Travel expenses will be paid for by APHIS, plus per diem for meals, etc. In most, but not all, situation employees will be returning home (duty Station) for weekends.

Time/Dates: Mid-May to mid/late August throughout Wyoming

Salary/Pay: $15-$15.47, plus, opportunities to put some per diem money in your pocket

  • A resume. Please provide detailed tasks and responsibilities with your experience. Please include years/months of experience and background, including ranch and farm work (e.g. Ranch hand – 6 summers – June to Sept – 40 hours per week. Weed and Pest Employee – 3 months – 40 hours per week.)

  • Applicants should include a listing of high school and college level science and agriculture courses completed. Offical transcripts are preferred!
