Job Title: AmeriCorps Newfound Watershed Stewards

Overview: The Newfound Lake Region Association is one of eight host sites of the Lakes Region Conservation Corps program, an AmeriCorps state service program that develops skills and experiences for conservation professionals.
Newfound AmeriCorps members, our Watershed Stewards, advance NLRA’s conservation mission while gaining important skills and experiences to advance their own careers. They have a true impact on the watershed and the Newfound community by creating education programs, inspiring volunteers, and implementing projects that protect water quality. Members collect and analyze water quality data, plan and lead environmental education and volunteer programs, maintain trails throughout the watershed, protect the lake and watershed from invasive species, implement stormwater management projects, create key educational communications aimed at the broader Newfound community, and support the general operations of NLRA. AmeriCorps members support the growth of stewardship of our lake, rivers, forests, and mountains through their actions and presence in the Newfound community.
Duties:
- water quality monitoring
- invasive species protection
- managing activities at Grey Rocks Conservation Area
- Running environmental education programs
- Hosting volunteer events
- Implementing stormwater management projects
- Leading programs for school groups and summer camps
- Working with partners throughout the watershed
- Creating communication material for NLRA

Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age by May 16, 2022
- Able to work independently and with a group
- Must be covered by health insurance for duration of program
- Available from May 16, 2022 through October 19, 2022
- Must apply online
- Must pass all certification exams
- Must meet the Corporation for National Community Service’s minimum requirements:
- Must clear all required National Service Criminal History Checks
- Must be a US citizen, US national, or legal permanent resident of the US
- Must be high school graduates, GED recipients, or must be working toward attaining a high school diploma or GED during their term of service
Start/End Dates: May 16- October 19
