Organization: Citizens’ Climate Higher Education

Organization Overview: Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots organization focused on national policies to address climate change. The organization is volunteer based and organized by congressional districts. CCL staff train and support volunteers to build relationships with elected officials and the media to empower their own local communities, generate the political will for fair, effective climate solutions in line with science and political viability.  CCL prides itself in its unique approach to educating elected officials on climate action, particularly bipartisan action.  Currently aiming to build upon shared values rather than partisan divides and empower supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities. This is how CCL works towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.

Position Title: Conservative Outreach 

Location: Remote

Duties:

  • Build a network of conservative and Republican young adults who are interested in climate policy that you engage on a regular basis.
  • Train young conservatives and Republicans to voice a constructive message for putting a price on carbon emissions. Actions may include:
    • speaking at events & hosting meetings & events to discuss climate policy – in person or virtual
    • publish media supporting carbon pricing: social media, local & regional papers, podcasts
    • participating in organizations and events to network with conservatives
    • supporting CCL’s Young Conservative Caucus
  • Develop, propose, test & implement outreach methods to young adult conservatives & Republicans.
  • Provide occasional administrative support including email, calls, research and data entry.
  • Responsibilities can be adjusted according to an intern’s interests and skills.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and a currently enrolled student or recent grad (within one year of graduation at the beginning of their internship term)  
  • Demonstrated networking & communication skills especially related to conservative outreach
  • Demonstrated ability to identify the interests of conservatives and Republicans
  • An understanding of carbon pricing as a mechanism for climate mitigation
  • Ability to work collaboratively, to meet deadlines, and to self direct your actions
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and U.S. citizens
  • Supply your own computer with internet access and transportation for outreach events

Position Title: Citizens’ Climate Radio Internship

Location: Remote

Duties:

  • Assist in selecting music for podcast episodes
  • Voice promos and other content related to the podcast and promotion
  • Brainstorm with team on possible guests and topics for future episodes
  • Assist in promoting the podcast through social media
  • Assist with revising scripts and blog post copy

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and a currently enrolled student or recent grad (within one year of graduation at the beginning of their internship term)  
  • Demonstrated leader with a passion for environmental advocacy and social change
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines with clear and consistent communication
  • An independent self starter who is able to devise the steps necessary to accomplish a given goal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google suite, email, social media
