Position Title: Surveyor 

Organization: Bureau of Land Management & University of Fairbanks Alaska

Location: Butte, MT

Organization Overview: The Bureau of Land Management and the University of Alaska Fairbanks is looking to hire 4-6 surveyors this summer to work in Western Montana. Survey work is based on visitor satisfaction and collecting data to write recreation management plans.

Duties:

• Administering on-site surveys at remote recreation sites in Western Montana between Missoula and Helena. The project is based out of the Butte field office but surveyors will travel frequently.
• Camping 3-5 days a week (specifics of accommodations are yet to be determined)
• Potential campground duties such as pit toilet and fire ring maintenance
• Online data entry of on-site surveys

Position Benefits:

• Surveyors will be reimbursed for travel to Montana and reimbursement for personal vehicle use is available for the duration of the position.
• Experience working with the BLM and at remote sites
• Extensive time to be spent outside in the beautiful Montana mountains

Salary/Pay: Approximate pay rate is $15-16/hr
