Organization Overview:
Building Resources for InterDisciplinary training in Genomic and Ecosystem Sciences (BRIDGES) is an NSF-funded training program that supports outstanding graduate students (MS, PhD) who bring diverse perspectives in pursuing graduate degrees in ecosystem genomics. BRIDGES trainees pursue their degrees in a program enriched by professional training, research experiences, a certificate and minor, and mentorship opportunities. Fellowships available.
Position Overview:
BRIDGES is an NSF-funded interdisciplinary graduate training program in ecosystem genomics that trains diverse students to communicate (1) across the entire “genes-to-ecosystems” scale, and (2) among the different cultures of science and the people that practice science, to solve real world problems that matter.
Duties:
INTEGRATE ecological, evolutionary, environmental, climate, and atmospheric sciences to address pressing global issues.
BECOME AN EXPERT with tools ranging from molecular sequencing to remote sensing to ‘big data’ informatics in wild or agricultural systems.
DEVELOP professional skills and enhance your abilities to communicate, collaborate, and work across disciplines.
GROW as part of a diverse team with internships, community activities, mentorship, transdisciplinary training, and outreach opportunities!
Qualifications:
All who are applying to one of UA’s seven graduate programs (EEB, SPLS, ENVS, BE, HAS, SNRE, EIS) for matriculation in fall 2022 are encouraged to apply to join NSF BRIDGES’ second training cohort!
Start Dates: Fall 2023
Salary/Pay: Competitive student fellowships ($34,000 stipend per year for up to two years, plus tuition waiver) for U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents
