Position Title: AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate

Organization: Action Resources International and Feeding Laramie Valley

Location: Laramie, WY

Organization Overview: Action Resources International AmeriCorps VISTA Rural Intermediary program in Wyoming. ARI provides VISTA host sites with recruitment tools, outreach strategies, support and development of new projects, technical support, individual VISTA member communication and all finance and payroll systems. AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty.  Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities.

Position Overview: AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program is a short-term service opportunity. Summer Associates enhance an existing VISTA project by allowing individuals to provide direct service over an 8, 9 or 10 week term of service. Summer Associates are available to work full-time, must be at least 18 years of age and will develop a diverse set of personal and professional skills throughout their intensive summer of service.

Duties: 

• Trail building
  
• Meal preparation and service
  
• Gardening or farming
• Direct engagement within community including outreach and recruitment
• Photography, graphic design, and marketing
• Fundraising and event planning
• Planning activities and working with children

Salary/Pay: 

• Healthcare
• Living stipend of $877 bi-weekly

A choice of $6,895 towards tuition or loans or $1,800 check at the end of the year.

Additionally

• NCE status (noncompetitive eligibility): priority when applying for any government jobs for the year following the end of service.
