Job Title: Transfer_Peer Mentor

Type of opportunity: Transfer Peer Mentors serve as academic and social role models for transfer students, sharing personal experiences and best practices as they guide new students through a successful transition to the University. Peer Mentors are leaders, encouragers, sounding boards, and points of contact who work diligently to help transfer students become a part of the UW community. Peer Mentors highlight campus resources, connect students with academic and social opportunities, and serve as experienced guides who can assist students facing challenges.

Duties: Peer Mentors begin communicating with incoming students early in the admissions process, and afterward offer one-on-one and small group support through the end of the student’s first academic year. They assist with transfer orientation and welcome week activities, as well as supporting the transfer-focused First-Year Seminar (FYS) course. In addition, Peer Mentors conduct research, test technology platforms, and assist with hosting visiting student groups.
