Overview: PSI is currently seeking an Executive Director (ED) to lead the team. The ED is responsible for organizing and supervising strategies that enhance the livelihoods and capabilities of those who sustainably manage and care for natural resources. Ensuring the future health of high plains ecosystems is an evolving challenge and requires that the ED leads the organization to both generate and implement solutions to this challenge. The ED is the public face of PSI in the region and is thus responsible for furthering PSI’s programmatic agency and stewarding funds as well as raising funds if necessary. They must engage, inspire, and communicate with the employees of PSI, the members of the board, stakeholders, and public officials. The position can be based anywhere in the service region. Some travel is required.

Duties: 

Operation and Staff Oversight:

  • Supervise and collaborate with staff and/or contractors
  • Ensure that PSI’s mission and purpose are put into practice
  • Identify and establish relationships with potential partnering organizations and individuals
  • Establish a protocol and conduct assessment of PSI staff to clearly link job performance to PSI goals
  • Inspire and engage employees, members of the board, and stakeholders

Board of Director Facilitation and Interactions:

  • Assist the Board in identifying and recruiting potential Board members that expand the breadth and experience of the current board
  • Provide a clear strategic vision and demonstrate a commitment to PSI goals
  • Expand PSI’s access to important ideas, practices, and organizations operating within the region
  • Monitor and report programmatic impact and update board-staff communications o In collaboration with the BOD, develop assessment standards for the ED
  • Continually address standards and effectiveness and responds to BOD direction for improved performance

Fiscal Oversight:

  • Ensure appropriate financial reporting to BOD and fiscal oversight agencies such as the IRS and State of Wyoming
  • Seek out and develop ways to leverage existing resources
  • Oversee and report status and potential of PSI investment

Program Facilitation and Delivery:

  • Maintain, refine, and expand existing programs (e.g. ranch finance and estate planning, youth internships, small grants and on-the-ground conservation plantings o develop new programs that are consistent with PSI’s Mission
  • Provide consistent and current on-line presence
  • Translate strategic goals into concrete, measurable actions, specifically:
    • Define success in PSI’s programs, and partnerships
    • Define ecological impact and participation for on-the-ground stewardship ▪ Present at educational workshop and track participation
    • Design, implement, and analyze PSI program impact data

Salary/pay: $65,000-$80,000, full time annual compensation contingent on experience and includes Medical insurance stipend, paid sick leave and vacation leave
