Position Overview: The K2H Civic Futures AmeriCorps Program focuses on civic learning and engagement opportunities and skill development for kindergarten through higher education (K-H) students. In addition, the K2H program strengthens partnership pipelines between K-12 systems and higher education systems that create continuity for civic learning and engagement initiatives as students transition from K-12 to higher education. This position offers a great experience for graduating students or others who want to work and gain knowledge in community engagement during their AmeriCorps service year.  We are looking for people with initiative, adaptability, and a collaborative spirit.

Duties: The MWCEP K2H AmeriCorps member will contribute to engagement capacity building, working with the MWCEP co-directors and staff promoting civic learning and engagement opportunities in a partnership with educators at all levels in the state. The Wallop Civic Engagement K-12 Curriculum Project, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, has partnered with the College of Education Trustees Education Initiative to create a library of virtual resources for K-12 teachers for their classroom use. There will be opportunities to work directly with K-12, community college, and university faculty and students and to be part of a multidisciplinary team as we create a partnership in civics education and service learning across all levels of education in the state of Wyoming.  This person also will work with the Wallop Team to promote experiential learning projects that allow students to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities focused on leadership for the public good.

Benefits: This is a one-year position (1700 hours) with a $14,280 stipend, education award commensurate with the Pell Grant (~$6,000 to be used for current educational expenses, to repay qualified student loans, or to be used within 7 years for educational expenses), funds towards health insurance coverage, training and professional development opportunities, and childcare assistance (if eligible).
