Fairfax, VA
Position Title: Adjunct Instructor
Organization: George Mason University: Department of Environmental Science & Policy
Summary:
George Mason University’s Department of Environmental Science & Policy is looking to hire an adjunct instructor to teach a graduate course in Spring 2022: “Introduction to Environmental Social Science.” The class is mandatory for the department’s environmental science graduate students who have no experience in the social sciences and provides an overview of various disciplines (political science, psychology, economics, anthropology, communication, sociology, etc.). The class is typically run as a small (10-15 student) seminar. In order to cover the vast scope, previous instructors have incorporated readings and guest speakers from a number of disciplines. (Previous syllabi are available.) The department prefers for the course to be taught in-person on the university’s Fairfax, Virginia campus, but could also be offered online remotely. In the past, the class has been taught on Mondays from 4:30-7:10 pm, but there is also flexibility on scheduling.
How to Apply:
If you are interested in the position or would like to see copies of the previous syllabi, please email Graduate and Undergraduate Programs Coordinator Stephanie Lister at slister1@gmu.edu with your CV.
