Position Title: Seasonal Park Aide
Organization: Lucky Peak State Park
Location: Boise, ID
Position Overview: The Park Ranger Maintenance Aid position will be responsible for assisting staff with all aspects of maintaining the park grounds and its facilities. This will include, but not be limited to, mowing grass, weeding, and mulching landscape beds, pruning/trimming, and hazardous tree removal, picking up and removing trash, cleaning restrooms, cleaning and repair of structures, hiking/biking trail maintenance, painting, fixing/replacing fence and participation in projects involving carpentry, and plumbing work. Employees will be required to work outside in all weather conditions. This position can be a seasonal appointment or an internship credit opportunity. Many internships are paid, some may be unpaid, and others may be completed for college credit. Internships are most commonly completed during the summer, but some are also available as part-time opportunities during the school year.
Duties:
- Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, trail maintenance, landscape bed maintenance, trash removal, vegetation removal, tree removal, and slash cleanup.
- Performs custodial services in restrooms, offices, and other buildings.
- Operation of landscaping equipment and use of hand and power tools.
- Set-up, monitor and clean-up support for park programs and special events.
- Maintains good public relations with park visitors and staff.
- Provides excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
Minimum Qualifications: You should be able to perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning rest rooms, operate a variety of equipment, follow written and oral instructions, perform moderately heavy labor, work under adverse weather conditions, and deal appropriately and tactfully with others. Some positions require you have or obtain a valid driver’s license, standard First-Aid and CPR certifications. Most job duties require employee to be at least 18 years of age.
Start/End Dates: Flexible but are expected to be between late May and early September.
Salary/Pay: Hourly wage will range from $10 – $15 depending on level of education and experience.
